Welcome to the Young Entrepreneurs' Challenge !

A remote farmhouse or a downtown high-rise -- geographic location is no longer a barrier in today's business world. With new technology such as the internet and wireless communication students have access to information no matter where they live. The Manitoba Research Institute (MRI) was created by the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce to give every student in Manitoba the opportunity to learn how business, planning and technology work together. With partnerships and support from business, government and the education system, MRI offers Manitoba students a unique learning opportunity.

Interactive Learning

Experience is a great teacher. Students in the MRI learn by making decisions about pricing, marketing, research, capital expenditure, production, inventory and dividends - all the daily decisions made by real executives - through the Young Entrepreneurs' Challenge, a business game using computer simulation. Decisions made by each team have a direct effect on the industry as a whole. Along with daily business decisions, teams have to adjust for taxes, investment credits and seasonal trends. Teachers and mentors help guide students through the Young Entrepreneurs' Challenge by including it in the curriculum or as a special project. A teacher support guide and manual is available and online support is provided from experienced teachers and the game administrator.
